EXPERIENCE
- Having worked primarily for the University of Cambridge since 2002, but also within the NHS and private practice, my experience is extremely broad. However my specialism has been in short-term focused therapy and working with Disordered Eating (including Anorexia, Bulimia, Body Dysmorphia, Compulsive and Binge-Eating). I have large experience of working with anxiety and stress-related disorders, depression, relationship issues and addictive behaviours such as self-harm and alcohol abuse. I regularly work with victims of psychological and physical abuse, sexual violence and rape, as well as supervise other therapists who work in this area,
- I designed and facilitated the Disordered Eating Group with the University Counselling Service, Cambridge for 5 years. I also ran both a postgraduate and undergraduate ongoing therapy groups for many years within the student service.
- I offered numerous workshops and talks within the University of Cambridge covering topics such as Exam Stress, Time Management, 'How to Handle Your Supervisor', Self Esteem and Peer Support.
- I tutor on the year-long Supervision training course at the Institue of Group Analysis, London.
- I work with and supervise at The Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre, Cambridge.
- I offer workshops and facilitate training days within schools as part of their personal development curriculum, including topics such as Self-Esteem, Managing Exam Stress, Effective Communication and Time Management.
- I have co-ordinated the Peer Support scheme within the University of Cambridge for six years, training students in a 30-hour program focusing on effective communication, offering effective support, boundaries and crisis management. This role also included offering ongoing supervision and support of peer supporters through Reflective Practice groups and CPD events.
- I am an active member of BACP (The British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) having chaired the Executive Committee of the BACP: Universities & Colleges Division 2012-2013, as well as chairing the Conference Committee for the previous two years.
